Spot (Mole) Checks

It is hard to believe that a dark growth as small as a pencil eraser can cause death, but the reality is that melanoma is one of the most lethal cancers, especially among young adults. Early detection is the key to the cure, and a trained dermatologist is the recognized expert for this vital detection. Dr. Benson and his staff of providers make every effort to not only inspect the skin for suspicious lesions but are also quick to test any "off-colored" growths with simple removal of the spot.

What are the signs of a suspicious growth? Any spot which displays the following signs should be examined by a specialist:
  •   has been present for longer than a month
  •   remains irritated or bleeds
  •   is itchy or inflamed
  •   has grown in diameter
  •   has become raised
  •   shows changing color especially towards darker shades

Removal is quick, virtually painless, and usually leaves no scar at all or one which is barely visible.

If you have a family history of skin cancer, have experienced multiple sunburns in your life or excessive exposure to the sun, or have numerous moles, come in for a "spot check." It is the most pro-active way to detect pre-cancerous growths and skin cancer in time to insure they are eradicated before they become a threat to your health.
